Erne Parkin of The Healys has written a show "Up The Raw". It premiered
in Mull in July 2004 and since then has been performed in Scotland as well
as their native North East.
It is a dramatic and stirring look at the great strikes
in the Durham Coalfield 1844-1892 and the struggle of the miners to survive
the lockouts. The Healys 4 piece traditional folk band use the unique humour,
language and songs of the time in this lively and entertaining show.
To get a flavour of 'Up The Raw' view the clips below, there is a rendition
of the Geordie folk song Geordie
Black performed by the Healys during the show for you to download for free!
